We learned about the different national symbols as part of our Araling Panlipunan lessons. There are official national symbols of the Philippines and there are those that we know but there’s no basis in Philippine law.
Philippine National Symbols (Pambansang Sagisag Ng Pilipinas) represent our ideals and represent our sovereignty as a nation. These symbols have been enacted in our laws.
The official national symbols of the Philippines:
- Philippine Flag
- National Anthem: Lupang Hinirang
- National Coat-of-arms
- National Language: Filipino
- National Moto: Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa
- National Flower: Sampaguita
- National Tree: Narra
- National Bird: Philippine Eagle
- National Gem: Philippine Pearl
- National Sport: Arnis
