Gab loves Math and Science. Maybe because he’s a son of parent engineers (?). Since last year, he’s been learning about elements of The Periodic Table on his own. So for his 10th birthday, we celebrated it with a Gab’s Mad Science Themed Party.
Invitation. Invitations were all sent online. The invitation is the same design we printed out and used as labels for the party snack bags.
Hands-on Game and Activity. We wanted the kids to have fun (and learn at the same time). We printed a Periodic Table for each one of them and prepared a kit for the atom and molecules activity
- Mad Science Themed Party Game: Show me the Element. This is similar to Give me what I want game. The party host says and describe the element and the kids will have look for something around them that contains that particular element (example: Fluorine – toothpaste, Nickel – coins, and so on)
- Mad Science Themed Party Activity: Build a Molecular Structure. Kids will build simple molecular structures from mallows and toothpicks.
Snack Party Bags. We sent out snack bags the day before the party. It contains Gab’s favorite all natural juice and cookies. We asked a friend to make sugar cookies with the elements Gallium (Ga) and Boron (B) as they spell out GaB’s name. We also included the activity kit with the snack bag.
The Periodic Table Cake. We have The Periodic Table birthday cake made from a baker friend, who happens to be Chemistry geek as well. Gab was so happy to see that it is updated (118 elements in all) and accurate too!
It was a fun virtual celebration. We hope to see friends next time and celebrate at the park like we used to!

Atom and Molecules Activity Guide
If you planning to do atom and molecules activity, all you need are mallows (can also be gummies), toothpicks and these guide cards.
Hello, I love the idea of having a science themed birthday party. Nice job! I recently puchased a Molecular structure model set at the thirft store. I was thinking of my second graders, however I didn’t know how I would let them play with it. I search for ideas and came across your page. I would love to down load the molecule cards. I’m not sure, that I’m doing it right. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hi Cindy, can you try to click on the cards again to download them?
