Gab loves looking and drawing vehicles. Thus, it was not a surprise that Gab will love the stories of Jepoy Dyip and his friends. We are reading Jepoy Dyip books every night. This is a great way for Gab to learn how to read and speak in Filipino.
Jepoy Dyip is a series of books by Jomike Tejido about a little jeepney named Jepoy Dyip. Jepoy Dyip lives in the Town of Pag-asa with his friends Victor Trisikel, Cora Taxi, Kuya Dong, Chief Wang and more.
There are 5 storybooks in the series and one book to built the Pag-asa Town. Each book comes with a FREE toy. The toy is actually a cut out page where you can build Jepoy Dyip and other characters.
Gab is excited to build these toys with me. However, his hands are not that strong yet to cut through the board. So I had to do most of the cutting. The author has Youtube videos as guides to make the toys.
When making the toys, I let Gab help by holding the parts, throwing out the trash and doing some pasting. He feels proud that he is able to help. Let your kids help in simple tasks too when making the toys.
The five Jepoy Dyip books are:
- Si Jepoy Dyip Ang Unang School Service
- Si Jepoy Dyip At Ang Palaruan
- Si Jepoy Dyip At ang Siga ng Bayan
- Si Jepoy Dyip At Ang Field Trip
- Si Jepoy Dyip At Ang Nawawalang Kwintas
The sixth book is the cut out toys to make the building of Pag-asa Town.
Each story has a moral lesson to learn. The stories are short but well-written. They are easy to understand even for my 4-year-old. Some have a touch of humor that my son would laugh hard as we get to these pages. It is a fun reading activity.
The story can be read in both Filipino and English. Gab prefers that I read in Filipino, while he reads the English text on his own. At first, Gab would struggle with the long Filipino words. I sometimes wished the author used simpler Filipino words. But he can read them fluently now after a lot of practice.
The illustrations are great and easy on the eyes. I love the drawings and Gab loves them as well. Since we see jeepneys, taxis, and tricycles everyday, Gab can easily relate to the characters. Jepoy and his friends are easy to love.
Jepoy Dyip Books are like the Filipino Books for kids who hates reading Filipino. The kids would love the cut out toys and will spend the rest of the day playing.
Jepoy Dyip Books are available in most bookstores. Each book costs 149.75 Pesos. They ran out fast. So when the bookstores restock, try to buy the complete set.
Jepoy Dyip is definitely one of my recommended Filipino books for kids.
