Teaching Filipino is a challenge. All the more when you use a local dialect at home. As we use Hiligaynon or Ilonggo, speaking and learning that dialect comes natural for Gab even if we did not teach him. But that’s not the case in learning Filipino. He also has a very limited number of his playmates here in Manila speak straight Filipino and most persons he interact with uses English.
So, how do we teach Filipino?
Teaching Filipino is easier when you use songs and bilungual books. Here’s our list of fun and easy Filipino books for kids. These are Gab’s favorites.
