There are a lot of emphasis for kids to master subjects in math and sciences. We expect these subjects to be important skills in the future. But learning Art is just as important. Kids will learn creativity, problem solving skills, and fine motor skills. Let kids work together on an art project and that helps them learn to collaborate, connect and socialize.
Coloring books and art workbooks are great to start with. But if your kids love to draw, doodle, paint or make some craft, here are some great resources in the internet they can follow.
DADDY TIP: Start with simple art materials like coloring pencils, crayons, markers or oil pastels. It doesn’t have to be the expensive ones. If the lesson uses a different brand or material, you can just use whatever you have. No pressure.
Art for Kids (Youtube). A personal favorite, the Art of Kids channel has plenty of drawing and doodle lessons that are easy to follow. It encourages kids to focus on the fun process instead of the final output. We like the realistic animal drawing lessons.
Happy Drawing (Youtube). The tutorials are easy and cute. Many tutorials are simple objects like a diamond and an envelope. The animals are super cute. I find this channel best for beginners.
Cartooning Club How to Draw (Youtube). If your kids love watching cartoons, this tutorials will get them hooked to art. There are plenty of choices fro Marvel and Disney characters, Anime and Game characters.
Skillshare. I was surprised myself but Skillshare have a few drawing lessons for kids. Many of them are less than 20 minutes. I like the ones that use oil pastels. There are free classes available and more paid ones.
5-Minute Crafts PLAY (Youtube). From drawing, crafts, decors and hacks, this channel has some witty and fun art ideas for kids. Can be messy though but that’s part of the fun.
