We have been a member of this library since 2015. I think we discovered it through the Little Free Library in Legazpi Sunday Market and we are grateful that we did.
UCM Library (Union Church of Manila) is a free library in Makati, managed by the Union Chruch of Manila.
Anyone is welcome to read books even if if you are not a member.
However, only members are allowed to check out books and bring them home. They allow library members to borrow a maximum of 5 books for 2 weeks. Signing up as a member is easy – just ask for the form, fill it up and pay for the fee (as of this writing, membership fee is Php 200). The membership is good for one year.
The library has a huge collection – children’s books, chapter books, novels, self-help books, bibliographies, and reference materials. They even have Filipino Story books! You may ask the librarian for the availability and location of the books or check out the card catalogs. There’s also a desktop you can use when you need to connect to the internet.
The library has a dedicated corner for young kids. They have spaces where you can comfortably read or do some school works.
Members are provided with wifi password in case you need access in your mobile phone.
We love it that we can return the books passed the library operating hours. We just deposit the books (with member identification) in the drop box located at the library entrance and we do not have to worry of the overdue fines.
