We are learning Filipino with Elementary Tagalog Book. This is one of the many books we started this quarter as we focus more on learning and speaking Tagalog.
The book will teach you not just Filipino words for vocabulary but focuses on how you can converse properly. It also teaches correct Tagalog grammar. It has twenty-four lessons covering a range of topics. The lessons has themes on family, home, the community, food, travel and festivals. It includes culture notes that explore the heritage and history of the Philippines.
This is a complete language system and no prior knowledge of Tagalog is needed to begin. It is a comprehensive way to learn Tagalog. We love the layout and how the lessons are arranged. We find the English translation along side the Filipino sentences helpful. Our young reader can read these translations and help him understand the sentences on his own.
It comes with an audio cd, so you can listen to how the words are spoken correctly. Just like in learning any language, whether Filipino, Spanish or French, hearing the words instead of just reading will be of great help.
Elementary Tagalog is published by Tuttle Publishing and is available in bookstores nationwide.
